After heavy rain and flooding on the South Deeside road overnight the clouds had cleared by 05:00 and most of the surface water had dried by the start time at 09:00. Clear sky, reasonable warmth and little wind made for some fast times for the course. By mid afternoon the heavy rain was back so we were very lucky to run the event in good conditions.
Phil Kelman was the fastest rider on the day to retain the Ian Brody Memorial Trophy and Robby Walton took the new Youth Cup donated by Moyra Brodie. Moyra presented the Trophy and the Cup and her daughter Arelene Ross presented the cash prizes in the open competition.
The event went very well despite my inexperience because of the invaluable help of Stewart Mitchell who set the field, Bob McGraw and Andy Tivendale who took care of the signage, and marshalls Jim Morrison, Tim Trimble and Wattie Davidson. Brian Gourley did a masterly job as chief Timekeeper ably assisted by pusher-off Dick Bird, starter Any Tivendale and Timekeeping guru Boab Gibson. I am particularly grateful to two Wheelers' Boab for his unstinting advice and guidance, mostly in Doric, and John Alan who is responsible for originating the event last year and helped at the Sign-on despite a very sair back. Ythan's Paul Winter was a very patient Commissair, providing me with with forms I didn't know I should have had. Irene Byth did the catering, with a bit of help from Moyra and Arlene (you don't come to a bike event without getting a job) and showed me how to print a poster sized Sign-on sheet on four A4s. And the riders from the four District clubs and a Fifer and Jenni made the event and
ate all the food.
So, how the the TT go? Look at the RESULTS.
